The Children’s Health Insurance Program of Pennsylvania has received a $200,000 grant from the National League of Cities to “create an outreach program for enrolling children and families.” The grant will support providing customized assistance for families and aims to achieve full 100% coverage for all children in the city of Pittsburgh.

Under the Obama administration, another new change has been approved that will go into effect as soon as this month. The new switch to what is called “reference pricing” may slow healthcare spending, while making health insurance even more complex. Employers have the opportunity to cap what they will spend on certain medical costs, leaving employees to pay the extra cost.
