In the first two years of life your baby should be spending a lot time at the pediatrician’s office for “well-baby” visits. These appointments are usually covered by family health insurance. The first visit is typically one to two days after leaving the hospital; its purpose is to confirm the baby is eating properly and does not have jaundice. This appointment is also very helpful for new parents as it gives them an opportunity to ask any questions. During the first year, check-ups are recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics at two weeks, two months, four months, six months, nine months and twelve months. In the second year, well-baby visits are suggested at fifteen months, eighteen months and the second birthday.
