Senator Durbin of Illinois is seeking President Obama’s support to promote a strict youth concussion policy. Durbin has introduced the Protecting Student Athletes from Concussions Act, which requires a “when in doubt, sit it out” policy, parent notification of student injury, and a doctor’s note to return to playing the sport. This policy change could drastically improve concussion rates and minimize accident risk for youth.
